Ethex recalls more drugs at the retail level, which I use as an excuse to complain about my job. Again.

The Ethex recalls just expanded at the retail level.  Previously they recalled Toprol XL, Dilaudid, and Imdur.

Here is the press release about the older recall.  Now some more items are being recalled, including (but not limited to):

  • Dextroamphetamine
  • Morphine Sulfate ER
  • Morphine IR
  • Propafenone

There are probably more, but I can’t find an official press release with the full updated list yet.  As I said before, most of our generic drugs are NOT from Ethex, and the pills aren’t spiked with cyanide or anything like that, so don’t panic if you see your drug on the list.  If you see a drug you’re on listed, keep taking it as normal and call the pharmacy that filled them* to ask if the NDC they dispensed was an Ethex one.  It probably wasn’t.

* I shouldn’t have to specify to call the pharmacy “that filled them” but in reality I totally have to.  I work at an independent pharmacy that is “so friendly” according to people who call us to ask questions about prescriptions they filled somewhere else.  That’s great.  Not only are you shopping somewhere else, but now you want us to provide you with unpaid consultations as well?  Hey, here’s an idea: if WeDontCareMart won’t give you the legally required consultation for your medication, report them to your state’s pharmacy inspector and shop at the “friendly” store instead.
