Generic drug update

by Caleb Reading

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, so I’m not sure how long these have been generic:

ADEKS (a prescription-only vitamin): the pills are definitely generic, not sure about the liquid

Inspra (Eplerenone)

Risperdal (risperidone): every patient I’ve personally met who was taking this expensive drug was on Medicaid or Medicare, so the taxpayers should save millions if Medicare and Medicaid let us switch them to the generic. If the makers of Risperdal give somebody a little kickback — oops, I mean “rebate” — then maybe Medicare and Medicaid will keep the brand as the preferred item, even though the rebate is far, far less than the actual price difference.
