Generic drug update
October 28, 2008
Drugs now available as a generic:
Some strengths of Depakote are available as a generic. (They probably have been for awhile and I just didn’t notice.)
The Urocit-K brand of Potassium Citrate tablets is now generic.
Razadyne (formerly Reminyl) is now available as generic Galantamine. I think only the regular, not extended release version, is generic.
The intraveneous version of Cardene (Nicardipine Hydrochloride) is now generic.
What science is.

There’s a short, interesting article in the recent issue of The Scientist:
Monkeys that wait tables and know karate
October 9, 2008
Via Wired:
Videos of the 12-year-old macaque, named Yat-chan, show him delivering bottles of sake and beer to customers at a restaurant in northern Tokyo. Several such clips, including TV news reports and raw footage of the monkey in action, have surfaced on the video site.
[. . .]
Bizarrely, Yat-chan also trains for karate, and has a 4-year-old partner at the sake house — another monkey, named Fuku-chan, who hands out towels.
